Signs and Markings

Diagram showing palmistry signs including cross, star, island, grille, and break.

Signs and Markings

Beyond lines, the palm may show small shapes or markings. These include crosses, stars, islands, and grilles. They add detail to a reading, but they must be interpreted carefully.

Why Signs Are Often Misinterpreted

Many people see a symbol and assume a fixed meaning. But palmistry doesn't work like that. The same marking can mean different things depending on where it appears, which line it affects, and how clear it is.

Cross

Two lines intersecting. May suggest a point of tension, a moment of change, or a shift in direction. Meaning depends heavily on location.

Star

Multiple lines meeting at a point. May suggest intensity, focus in a specific area, or heightened influence. Clear stars are rare โ€” many shapes that look like stars are not.

Island

A small oval or loop within a line. May suggest a period of reduced clarity, distraction, or diffusion of energy. Context matters โ€” especially which line contains the island.

Grille (Grid Pattern)

A mesh or grid of small intersecting lines. May suggest scattered energy or lack of focus in that area.

Location Changes Meaning

A sign has no meaning without location. A cross on the heart line has a different meaning than a cross on the head line. Always read the sign in relation to the feature it appears on.

Avoid Over-Reading

Not every marking should be interpreted. Only consider signs that are clear, consistent, and well-formed. Focus on major patterns first โ€” use signs only to refine.
